Our HOA has a new new company for our pest service, Beach Pest Service.  When they came out for their inspection they found many areas that have not been treated as our contract stated with Lanes.

Some owners used CPM Complete Pest Management Company for extra bug protection when Lanes failed to treat them.  Gerald the owner was excellent to deal with and did a great job for us.  He returned our call immediately, came out when he said he would and had very good communication.  We would definitely use him again.

Homeowners have reached out about their dryer vents being plugged up with bird’s nests and lint.  I actually had the bottom of a bikini in mine, and no it wasn’t mine.  Not sure how it got in there but possibly thinking there was an old dryer in our unit without the filter in it.  

This is so important for us owners to get our vents cleaned on a regular basis to prevent fires.  The owner of the photo below used Dryer Vent Wizard  and was happy with their service.  

Dryer vents should be cleaned out once a year or more ofter depending on how many loads you dry.  It is important for those owner’s who rent to make sure your guests are cleaning the lint filter every load.  Put a sign or write with magic marker on the dryer to remind guests to do this.  Also, make sure you or your management company checks the lint filter to make sure it has not been removed and is in good working comdition.

Charities to Donate Furniture Etc

Here is a list of charities that take furniture, clothes etc that was recommended by a local Myrtle Beach furniture store.  We contacted Missions for the Nations Ministry for furniture and they were great to work with and was able to donate 3 bedroom sets.  They will schedule a day and time for pick up.  Call or check on their website to see what kind of donations they take, each one varies.

Kitchen Tune-Up has done quit a bit of work in the resort.  I have not used them but have spoke with numerous owners who have and reports have been positive.  They also remodel bathrooms.

Bruce Gustafson and Joe Planten were referred by real estate agents in the Myrtle Beach area and homeowners.  Bruce comes highly recommended.  I have not personally used any of these handymen but trust the people they were referred by and have seen Bruce Gustafson’s in our building many times.  Todd Powers has worked for multiple homeowners all with positive reviews.  Bryan Lee did a great job replacing the panel that hides the HVAC system with shutters for a homeowner.  She was very satisfied with his price and work.  Wellington Wetter comes recommended by an owner for painting, tile, flooring and more.  He is originally from Brazil, German decent and speaks Portugueses and English.  Marli Piancor (843-424-4176) was recommended by the same owner for house cleaning and does extra jobs like drive people to the doctors.  I see on her Facebook page that she does catering also.

We have purchased many items from Seaside and have been very happy with them.  You usually do not pay the prices on their tags. They have many sales that usually takes 30% off of the ticketed price.  Make sure you ask because their regular prices are high. The large pelican picture in our lobby came from there.  If you see something at another store, most likely they can get it if it is not in their show room.

We purchased all our living room furniture and dining table from Wholesale Furniture Gallery. They offer a renter’s warranty plan that is excellent.  If you do not use the plan you purchased, you receive money back in 5 years from the purchase date that you can use in their store.  They were on time for delivery and easy to deal with. I saw a table online I wanted and asked if they could get it and match the price.  They were close to matching the price but was worth the extra money to get it local in case of problems.

is aThrift & Consignment Store that many homeowners have used to resale their furniture no longer needed.  There has been only positive comments about their store.  They take good furniture and resale it.  They will drop their price each month till it sells.  You will need to take a photo of the furniture and send to the owner since they only take furniture in good or better condition.  Their website is under construction so here is their Facebook page.  They also have a pick up service they deal with for a cost.

Brady Glass is the company that installed the owners doors in 2017 for a quantity discount and has worked in the resort for many years. I received quotes from Brady Glass, Carolina Glass and Mirror and Billy’s Glass and Mirror. Brady had the best prices from all three companies.  Three owners had many problems with installation, me included, it was a nightmare.  Brady is also hard to work with and owners have had problems with them. They are the largest glass company along the Grand Strand.  If they do work for you make sure you are present and that goes for all companies and contractors.  Billy’s Glass did a nice job for us when we had our wall of mirrors removed and I have heard good reviews about them for smaller jobs.  According to the state, Billy’s is not licensed to work on high rise buildings either.  I learned that when I did research on the doors.  They were also not familiar with the doors we needed to be installed to match the existing doors. Carolina Glass was very professional to work with but was the most expensive of all three companies.  But, I have heard good reviews about them.

We have used ACMS and were very happy with them.  They were honest when we thought we needed a new HVAC unit.  They told us it was not our unit but a problem with the main unit for the whole building.  They could have sold us a new unit but instead they serviced ours.  I personally have heard all positive from other homeowners.
